Woo what an ending to the year!

Back again.  I'm thinking about possibly setting up a Facebook page instead of the whole blog thing.  I don't have the time it takes to post daily or research patterns and all that.  A sista has to work for a living!  I can't be a starving crochet artist!!!

In the meantime, I will continue to post new pics here as I do things and go places.

Here are a few things I have done recently.  Due greatly to the viral ponytail hat photo!  I will be adding these to the appropriate page on this blog!

Not a ponytail hat, but I love the pattern!

Back in Action!

It's been a while since I have posted, but I have been busy.  I'm on an earring kick right now, but will have to get back to the hats and scarves really quickly.  It will be cool/cold before I know it!

Here are a few of the earrings I have done. For the spiral earrings, I watched a video on making a spiral blanket or something and modified it to make a 2 color earring.  The teal and gray, I found a free pattern online for those. The gray with beads are from a graph I found online.  It didn't call for beads, I added those in.

I have found making earrings to be really fun!!!  There are many different types and I am even trying my hand at tatting.  I know people have been tatting for years, but it's new and exciting to me!

I have a lot of ideas for earrings, but don't know how to pull some of them off, and on top of that, I always have more ideas than time. :(

Anywho!  There are more earrings to come.  I will be adding an Earring page soon.

I would love to see earrings you have created or completed!

Market bag madness

Working on yet another market bag. I have made this one before, so it is pretty easy, but super cute!

It is a BobWilson123 pattern, Market Mesh Bag.  She has a tutorial on Youtube.  Check it out!!!

This is how far I've gotten so far.  It is actually turquoise, a very pretty color.

It's the 2nd of the giveaway bags that I'm doing for work.  I hope she likes the way it turns out.

I'll post more pictures when it's completed!

Happy Hooking!

New page added

I've added a new page to this blog!!!

To the right in the list of pages, there is a new one 'Bags and more'.

Check it out!

Bag Crazy!

I have been making market bags the past few days.  It's like I'm obsessed!

I made one so far for a giveaway at work.  I have one more to make for that. (see last 2 posts)

This one is called Fancy Market Bag.  I got the pattern from the Cre8tion Crochet website.  www.cre8tioncrochet.com

It was a little tricky getting the shells correct, but after a while I think I got it down.

The only other area that was tricky to follow was row 24.  This is actually where you begin making straps.  It doesn't specify that in the pattern, so just keep this in mind.

You can also find a lot of good info in the comments on the page of the pattern.  So READ the comments and make notes before you begin this pattern.  I WISH I HAD.

That said, I do not regret making this bag.  I love, love, love it!  I am sure I will be making another one.

And then there was one!

I started on the first market bag the other day.

Large Market Tote by Lauren at Daisey Cottage Designs.  http://daisycottagedesigns.net/

It worked up pretty quickly and turned out nice.

This is the yarn I used.  It says Home Dec, but I thought it would make a good bag, and I was right.

This is the bottom of the bag.  It is pretty round and roomy.  I think the winner will be able to put plenty of items in this bag!

What I didn't notice before I started is that the yarn is a 5 weight.  Which means it's considered a bulky yarn, which explains the size of this thing.  It's HUGE!!!!  I used about 10 oz of yarn on this.

I would use this to put all types of things in from the farmers market or the super market.  If you don't like using those plastic sacks at the store, you could definitely put quite a bit in here.

If I had to guess how much you could put in this bag, I would say it can easily fit 3 large bags of chips and maybe a loaf of bread. :)

I changed a little in the design. I didn't put the flower on it.  I decided to make it two toned instead.  I really like the colors and it seems to be a really sturdy bag.

And here is the finished product!  Hopefully the winner of the prize (see previous post) will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.

And then there were 2...

Market bags that is!

I will be trying out two patterns I haven't ever done before.  These items will go to two lucky winners of a drawing at my job.

The first bag is the Large Market Tote by Lauren at Daisey Cottage Designs.  http://daisycottagedesigns.net/

This caught my eye because of the simple elegance of it.  I also love the pop that the little flower gives!  I'm super excited to give this one a try!!!

The next one is a bit of a toss up, but I have decided on a market bag by Lions Brand, www.lionsbrand.com.  It is roomy enough for long days at the farmers market or yarn shopping!

I'll keep you posted on how they turn out!  I'll also post picks of the finished products!
