I started on the first market bag the other day.
Large Market Tote by Lauren at Daisey Cottage Designs. http://daisycottagedesigns.net/
It worked up pretty quickly and turned out nice.
This is the yarn I used. It says Home Dec, but I thought it would make a good bag, and I was right.
This is the bottom of the bag. It is pretty round and roomy. I think the winner will be able to put plenty of items in this bag!
What I didn't notice before I started is that the yarn is a 5 weight. Which means it's considered a bulky yarn, which explains the size of this thing. It's HUGE!!!! I used about 10 oz of yarn on this.
I would use this to put all types of things in from the farmers market or the super market. If you don't like using those plastic sacks at the store, you could definitely put quite a bit in here.
If I had to guess how much you could put in this bag, I would say it can easily fit 3 large bags of chips and maybe a loaf of bread. :)
I changed a little in the design. I didn't put the flower on it. I decided to make it two toned instead. I really like the colors and it seems to be a really sturdy bag.
And here is the finished product! Hopefully the winner of the prize (see previous post) will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Market bags that is!
I will be trying out two patterns I haven't ever done before. These items will go to two lucky winners of a drawing at my job.
The first bag is the Large Market Tote by Lauren at Daisey Cottage Designs. http://daisycottagedesigns.net/
This caught my eye because of the simple elegance of it. I also love the pop that the little flower gives! I'm super excited to give this one a try!!!
The next one is a bit of a toss up, but I have decided on a market bag by Lions Brand, www.lionsbrand.com. It is roomy enough for long days at the farmers market or yarn shopping!
I'll keep you posted on how they turn out! I'll also post picks of the finished products!
Crochet away!!!
I have been busy working on a very colorful blanket for a friend that just had her first baby! They are an artsy couple, so my hubs thought the bright colors would be fun for them.
This is a ripple stitch pattern. It was pretty easy to get used to, although I did have to frog a row a few times to fix a mistake. :) What does "frog" mean you may ask... well I'll tell you! It means to rip out (rip it, rip it). Get it??!!! I was soooooo excited when I found out what that meant. I'm easy to please. :)
Here is a picture of the finished blanket. It measured right around 32 x 36. I added a ruffle border to finish it off.
I tried to remember where I got the pattern, but to no avail. Once I figure it out, I will post it here to give credit where credit is due.
There are MANY ripple/chevron crochet patterns out there. Pick the one that speaks to you. :)
Happy Hooking!
The fairies are flying out of the house! 3 of the 4 fairies have sold!!! I'm so proud of my hubby.
He is busy making more. He's so creative.
Oh and just an FYI, some people told me that they didn't realize there were links to other pages on the right of the screen. So, be sure to check out the links to the right!
The Fairies have landed!!!!
Check out the fabulous fairy night lights on the Collaborations page.
My hubby saw a similar idea and tweaked it to make it his. He has always loved lights and his artwork reflects that. You can see his other artwork on his blog, www.kentdavisart.blogspot.com
Here is one of the fairies. Her name is Lavendar Fields. Isn't she beautiful!
Additions!
I have added a new page called Collaborations. On that page you will see some artwork that my husband and I completed together. Check it out!
I also update the Prices page to include the collaboration art.
You know, I thought doing a blog would be very easy. It isn't. It isn't always easy to find to the time to write posts, add new pictures, etc. It's almost like a part time job! I think it's worth the effort. Now just to get the word out!
It's much more encouraging when you know people have looked at your blog and make comments.
I hope you enjoy the blog and I hope you check back often and grow with me. :)
Have a blessed weekend!
Small mishap with the blog last night. I didn't have the pages showing on my home page!! I'm such a newb!
None the less, it is showing the pages now.
I'm such a work in progress!! :)
This post is an introduction to my new blog. I wanted to show some of the things I have made.
I learned how to crochet over 20 years ago and picked up my hook again a few years ago. I am very excited about making new things for myself and others.
I have begun to make hats to donate to shelters, hospitals, etc. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day. I still plug along, doing what I can.
I want to say that the things I have made are mostly from patterns written by others. They give their permission to sell the finished works, just not their patterns.
I hope you enjoy some of the things I have made.
